Electrical Units
SI base unit of electric current. Defined by the elementary charge. Fundamental to all electrical engineering calculations.
One thousandth of an ampere. Standard for instrumentation signals (4-20 mA), sensor outputs, and low-power electronics.
One millionth of an ampere. Used for leakage current, sensor sensitivity, and ultra-low-power electronics.
One thousand amperes. Used for power system fault currents, arc furnaces, and large industrial loads.
CGS electromagnetic unit of current. Equal to 10 amperes. Also known as the biot. Used in some physics contexts.
CGS electrostatic unit of current. Very small unit used in some theoretical physics and electrostatics calculations.
