Angle Units

rad Radian SI

SI unit of angle. Defined as the angle subtended by an arc equal in length to the radius. Required for trigonometric calculations.

° Degree Universal

Most common angle unit in engineering practice. 360° in a full circle. Standard for drawings, specifications, and surveying.

grad Gradian Metric

Also called gon. 400 gradians in a full circle. Used in European surveying where 100 grad = right angle.

' Arcminute Universal

1/60 of a degree. Used in surveying, navigation, and astronomy for precise angle measurements.

" Arcsecond Universal

1/3600 of a degree. Used for precise surveying, geodesy, and astronomical measurements.

mrad Milliradian SI

One thousandth of a radian. Used in military targeting, optics, and precision engineering. ~0.0573°.

turn Turn Universal

One complete rotation = 2π radians = 360°. Used in rotational mechanics and some frequency specifications.

quad Quadrant Universal

One quarter turn = 90° = π/2 radians. Used in navigation and some surveying conventions.
